Hey I found these pics up on China.org's website and i was wondering if anyone in the Chinatravel.net community has been to this area before, sounds like it is pretty rich in tourist attractions, especially great historical sights from the Silk Road era. I'm not sure where Black Water City is so I've included some pics below to help refresh memories. If anyone could share info on this place like, how to get there and how they liked it, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

This place is in the Gobi desert in the far western reaches of Inner Mongolia. It's name is Khara Khoto, which means "Black City" not "Black Water City." It's on the Alashan plateau and can be reached from the city of Erjina Qi in Inner Mongolia. This place is gorgeous at sunrise and sunset, the desert stretches interminably and the sky gets really, really blue. Besides that, its the most important excavation site in the Gobi desert. Hope you get to go!

Khara Khoto, wow, this place looks crazy good! I saw some pictures of this place on National Geographic site, unbelievable. Are there horse or camel treks going out to this spot?
