Archival China Photo fans rejoice!
The China Law Blog had this post up today linking to google.com's Life Magazine archive and there are a lot of really old, amazing pictures of China to be viewed. I've got a couple samples below here, but you'll want to click this link to go the actual archive to look at the pics.
Just a little forewarning, it might be hard to search for the pics using present-day city names which are written in Pinyin, you'll want to use the old city names, so, for example, for Chongqing, search for Chungking. For Qingdao, use Tsingtao, Peking/Beijing, Tianjin was Tientsin, Dalian was Port Arthur and Shenyang was Mukden and so on and so forth. You may have to do a little research to find out the older name of the city you are interested in...
