Hong Kong
is not one of the places I would have considered for great hiking, but after spending the May long weekend hiking, beaching and lounging on a beautiful old wooden junk in South Bay, I got quite a different view of things. I recommend if you go to Hong Kong during the spring or fall, that you hike Part 2 of MacLehose Trail (go here for photos) in the New Territories.

Before setting off to MacLehose Trail from Hong Kong Island, we had a lovely brunch at Brunch Club (70 Peel Street, near Elgin Street, Soho). It takes about an hour to get to the start of the Trail from Hong Kong Island, but it's well worth the trip.

Another great place we visted on our trip was South Bay beach on Hong Kong Island. We caught the sunset sessions from the DJ at South Bay Beach Club and enjoyed a bottle of wine watching the sunset.

And let's just say no one had time (or attention) to read a book at South Beach.

We had dinner at a French/Mediterranean restaurant not far from South Beach called Cococabana. The restaurant overlooks the bay, not sure what bay. Very nice around sunset and early evening.

On my last trip to Hong Kong, we went for dinner at Aqua on the Kowloon side. I strongly recommend everyone watch the sunset from Aqua. Also the terrace of Isola (in the IFC building) is a nice place for an early evening drink (HK island).

Magda and I are training for the Great Wall Half Marathon as one of our reasons for being in HK, so Magda had me running up Victoria Peak. It's possible. She ran, I walked mostly on the uphill bits, but the 4km run around the top of the Peak is very pretty.

Less than 2 weeks until the half marathon on May 16. Think I am ready....
