I came to China in March on a double entry L visa and failed to leave within 3 months, i overstayed by something like 80 days. Consequently I was fined 5000RMB. I have paid that and been given a replacement visa, which asks me to leave China within 10 days. I was told at the entry/exit office in my city that my name has not been blacklisted. Also, they told me that going to HK will class as having left China, I don't need to return to the UK. Can anyone give me some idea of my chances of obtaining a new visa if I go to HK? Will it be any trouble, will it be impossibe? Just, how can I return immediately to China or do I have to go home?

Much appreciated

I'm sorry to say but I don't like your chances... overstaying by a few days in one thing but deliberately staying for 80 days is not going to be looked on too kindly.

Having said that however, if your name hasn't been blacklisted then it may still be possible and worth a try in Hong Kong (no need to return to the UK). Its probably best to get in touch with a visa agent there in advance as you may need some guanxi to smooth things over. Shop around and get a few opinions to see what the deal is. Here's a couple to start you off:

Good luck and if you do make it back, keep your nose clean and your visa up to date!
