Jesse Restaurant (Jishi Jiujia)
Avg. Score:4.9
Avg. price: RMB 100-150 per person

Jesse Restaurant (Jishi Jiujia) is a quaint and cozy staple of the Shanghainese dining circuit. A tiny restaurant of around 12-15 tables, Jesse specializes in sweet Shanghai classics like hongshao rou (red braised fatty pork), xiefen doufu (toufu with crab meat in sauce) and jishi xianji (cold, salty sliced chicken) served in a comfortable and humble environment.

While the dining room is rather "no frills," the service is excellent, waiters making great recommendations and food arriving fast and consitently, and the food is impeccable.

Jesse's popularity has reached such heights that several spin-off chains have been opened around Shanghai, all requiring reservations.

If you're interested in eating the best Shanghainese cuisine in town, head to Jesse, but make sure to call in advance.

Reservations recommended.
