Located in the Lujiazui Financial and Trade Zone, the Pudong Shangri-La (Pudong Xianggelila Jiudian) offers spectacular views of the Huangpu River, the Bund and the surrounding space-age Pudong skyline. The recently added Grand Tower gives the Shangri-La nearly 1,000 rooms, many of which feature floor-to-ceiling windows to highlight the views outdoors and state-of-the-art flat-screen TV entertainment centers for indoor viewing (a free DVD service helps guests make the most of this particular amenity). The Shangri-La's dining options are equally opulent. The 36th floor Jade on 36 provides a feast for the eye as well as the palate, framing its Bund views with the-future-is-now design and serving up haute cuisine courtesy of Chef Paul Pairet. The Yi Cafe earns high marks for its international gourmet buffet, and Cantonese (Fook Lam Moon), Japanese (Nadaman) and pan-Chinese (Gui Hua Lou) cuisines are all well represented. For luxury accommodations on the Pudong side of the Huangpu, the Shangri-La is hard to beat.
