The Kingwing Hot Spring Hotel (Jingrui Wenquan Guoji Jiudian) claims five stars, though many a Western guest would beg to differ. The Chaoyang District hotel is a bit southeast of much of the city's prime attractions, though it is handy to the Beijing-Tianjin-Tanggu and airport expressways. The hotel takes its name from a hot spring located on the site, the water of which is channeled into the hotel's spa, which also offers Chinese and Thai massage, a 24-hour fitness center and sauna and steam rooms. This unique feature may, for some, balance out the occasionally grubby or smoke-stained rooms and typically hard beds, but for many Western travelers, the distance and the roughness around the edges aren't likely to please. That said, it can prove good value for those with business nearby, and some may find its slightly out-of-the-way location a welcome respite from the busier, touristier parts of town. The Japanese and Chinese restaurants, especially the excellent Cantonese restaurant Baoyu Wangzi, get good marks though the Western fare is not top of the line. For hardcore bargain seekers, one of the neighborhood highlights is the nearby auction market.
