Jin Jiang Tower, also known as the New Jin Jiang Hotel, rises above the neighboring historic Art Deco Jin Jiang Hotel, managed by the same company but run separately. Jin Jiang Tower has its own history as one of Shanghai's first modern five-star hotels—it was briefly the city's tallest building—and though its late 80s architecture is dated and Shanghai now has dozens of recently built five stars, Jin Jiang Tower remains an outstanding choice. Providing solid service in a prime location, just north of the ritziest stretch of Huaihai Zhong Lu (Middle Huaihai Road) and the French Concession, within easy reach of Nanjing Xi Lu (West Nanjing Road) to the north. Jin Jiang Tower is also handy to the Bund, People's Park and a host of other prime Shanghai attractions and neigbhorhoods. Jin Jiang Tower boasts excellent views from the 48-story tower's upper floors, crowned by a the Blue Heaven Revolving Restaurant, and even if you're not staying there, a trip to the top via glass elevator is a fun way to gain a bird's eye view of Shanghai.
