An eco-conscious boutique hotel designed by American entrepreneur Chris Barclay, the Yangshuo Village Inn boasts unimpeded views of Moon Hill from both upper-level balconies and its rooftop Italian restaurant Luna. Sharing much of its room design—polished concrete floors inlaid with reclaimed wood, local minority Miao artwork, simple wooden furnishings and a general less-is-more aesthetic—with its sister hotel, the Yangshuo Mountain Retreat, the Village Inn is an ideal base for exploring surrounding Yangshuo attractions, including Moon Hill, water caves, mountain trails, Yangshuo's 1,000-year old banyan tree, the Gaotian Hills and the Yulong and Li rivers, just to mention a few.
The Village Inn also shares with the Mountain Retreat a devotion to Western-style eco-conscious service, which mean the friendly staff members speak above-average English and are accustomed to meeting the requests of European and American visitors. A final strong point of the Village Inn is dining. The rooftop Luna's menu, designed by an Italian-trained chef, serves excellent pizza, pastas and salads featuring local produce, and breakfast outdoors in the hotel's shady pomelo tree grove is a fine way to start your day.
