The Chengdu Tibet Hotel (Chengdu Xizang Fandian) is a modern three-star international tourist hotel sponsored by the People's Government of the Tibet Autonomous Region specially built to provide a full range of services for trips to Tibet. The "Tibetan" architecture is in imitation of the holy palace of Potala in Lhasa. The hotel possesses over three hundred guestrooms including deluxe suites and superior double rooms, a business center, an air-ticket center, a shopping center and a recreation center. The hotel provides a limousine transfer to the airport for early Tibet-bound flights and the staff can also be of help to foreign visitors in applying for permission to enter Tibet. For those who aren't offended by the rather crass commericial co-opting of Tibetan Buddhism, the hotel features numerous Tibetan religious paintings and works of folk art. There is also "authentic" Tibetan fare to be had on the premises; if such "Tibetan" food is not to your taste, the Western Restaurant and the Pearl Star Seafood Restaurant are alternatives.
