To Jianshui Jianshui County is 220 km (136 miles) south of Kunming City. Although there is a railway station in Jianshui, most of the traffic is carrying freight not people. Long-distance buses are the most common form of transportation and with Kunming not far away it is a fairly pain-free trip (takes only about 3.5 hours). The following is a schedule of the buses within Honghezhou traveling to Jianshui County. Taxis are very affordable within Jianshui, the base rate starting at 4 RMB for the first 3 km (1.8 miles). You can also hire a minibus or car to take you around to the tourist spots but remember to bargain and negotiate on a price before getting in. Motorized rickshaws accommodating 2 people at one time are also available at a cheap price but again, be sure to agree upon your price first.
