Tibet Museum   (Lhasa)

The Tibetan Museum is located in the Norbu Lingka section of Lhasa and showcases the history of the regions peoples, their art and religion, customs and lore and relationship to Han China.

The main section is devoted almost exclusively to the political ties between Tibet and Han China over successive centuries with the emphasis being on "harmony" and Dynastic China's enlightened governance.

Other sections include the Cultural and People's sections which, in the words of the official website for China's museums (http://www.chinamuseums.com),

"... reflect the friendly relations of Tibetan people with those on their borders, including the influence of Han culture on Tibetan culture and the mutual influence and interpenetration of these two
traditions."

 
Admission:Free, 20RMB for audio guide  Hours:10:00 to 18:00 (Closed on Monday)  How to get there:The museum is located in the southeast corner of Norbu Lingka, Lhasa. To get there you can take any of the following buses 86, 98, 106, 109, 201, 203, 20 or grab a taxi from downtown Lhasa for a 10RMb ride to the museum.
