Taicheng (Táichéng, 台城) is part of the Nanjing City Wall that lines the western edges of Xuanwu Lake. It is accessible from the old horse ramp or through an elevated walkway from Jiming Temple. Taicheng is lower than the rest of the city wall and connects to it not far from the ticket office.
Where Taicheng connects to taller part of the city wall, a small museum has a model showing the complete city wall in relation to old Nanjing. Walking along grass and stone top of the connected portion of the Nanjing City Wall offers wide views and great photo-ops of Xuanwu Lake, Jiming Temple, downtown Nanjing and Nanjing's Jiuhua Shan (Jiǔhuáshān, 九华山), topped by Sanzang Pagoda (Sānzàng Tǎ, 三藏塔).
Tour guides are available for RMB 60-65, depending on the size of the group.
