Once the headquarters of the Communist party in their struggle against the Japanese in World War II, Red Cliff Village is now one of the finest revolutionary history museums in China. Zhou Enlai resided here for a few years. In August of 1945 the Japanese surrendered, Mao Zedong took part in peace talks here that lasted forty-two days.
