Puzhehei   (Wenshanzhou)
0 /0  Users recommend

Puzhehei is a scenic area located to the north of Wenshan. The areas cave riddled karst scenery is comparable to that of Guangxi province's tourist hot-spot Guilin. Although not as strikingly spectacular as Guilin or Yangshuo, Puzhehei has many similar geographical features—but without the crowds.

Puzhehei—meaning "pool of fish and shrimp" in local Yi minority dialect—encompasses the lake for which the area is named and the surrounding lands, 85 km² of mountains, verdant valleys, lakes and rivers. Other minority cultures such as Zhuang, Bai and Miao can also be observed in Puzhehei, although Yi culture is most dominant.

While this scenic area is a good destination for nature lovers or culture buffs, visitors may want to make it a day trip, unless you've got plans to bunk down with the locals.
