Designed to appear as an "ark of art," the Ningbo Museum of Art (Níngbō Měi shù Guǎn, 宁波美术馆) sits on the north end of the Old Bund in Ningbo's Jiangbei district and displays local art including traditional Chinese scroll paintings, oil paintings, calligraphy, photography and more. The building previously occupying the space was a port for visitors headed to nearby Putuo Shan (Mount Putuo Island) by boat, the watch tower of which remains as part of the museum. Take the elevator or stairs up to the top for views of Ningbo and pictures showing the history of the museum. Behind the museum on the riverside is a quay, which can still be used to moor ships.
