Hanyang Mausoleum   (Xi'an)
0 /0  Users recommend

The Hanyang Mausoleum is the burial site of Han Jingdi, the fourth Han Emperor, and his wife Liu Qi. This subterranean chamber features re-enforced walls, designed to protect the Emperor in his afterlife, with four large gates, one on each side, the south gate being unearthed and opened to tourists.

The mausoleum houses terracotta warriors (and servants) similar to the Qin Shihuang Emperor's tomb, but rouhgly 1/10 the size. There are two massive burial pits to the north and south of the mausoleum where thousands of artifacts were unearthed.

Both the Empress and the Emperor's tomb are worth a slow, careful visit.
