Stretching 36 km (22 mi) across Hangzhou Bay, the Hangzhou Bay Bridge (Hángzhōu Wān Dàqiáo, 杭州湾大桥) is the longest trans-oceanic bridge in the world and cuts the transit time down between Ningbo and Shanghai from four hours to about two and a half hours.
At each end of the bridge is a service station with a Chinese restaurant, snack shop, book and CD shop and restrooms. Most buses between Ningbo and Shanghai stop at one of the two. Be quick as most stops are just enough time to go to the restroom and peruse the food section, don't expect time to sit down to enjoy a meal.
In the center of the bridge is another service station, which opened in December 2010. This service station, named "Land Between Sea and Sky" (Hǎitiān Yīzhōu, 海天一洲) sits atop piers and features a watch tower.
