Elephant’s Bathing Pool   (Emei Shan)
0 /0  Users recommend

The Elephant's Bathing Pool (Xixiang Chi) lies on Zuantian Po of EMei Shan. Its original name is Chuxi Ting which suggests that tourists often mistakenly thought that they had reached the top when they arrived here and felt very happy. Legend has it that the Bodhisattva Samantanhadra once washed his elephant in this hexagon pool before heading up to the temple at the peak of the mountain and thus the Elephant's Bathing Pool was born. This place is said to be the best place on this mountain to appreciate moonlit scene for it's very spacious at the front and the moonlit scene is really wonderful set off by the forests. There is a large temple built with lead covering here, setting against the cliffs and offering wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. Four government-owned guesthouses are located nearby and this is also a good place to see monkeys although they can be very rude and a bit aggressive, accustomed as they are to tourists feeding them sweets and nuts!
