Completed in 1920, the 620-meter Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro, commonly known as San Man Lo (新马路), is the main avenue in the heart of Macau Peninsula.
Running between the Inner to the Outer harbours, the avenue runs through Portuguese Concession-era streets lined with colorful colonial buildings, intersecting with many of Macau's other major streets and squares, including Largo do Senado (Senado Square), the Chinese flea market around Rua das Estalagens (popular for antiques), and numerous other shopping streets.
From antiques to jewellry and gold, from Portuguese wine and liquors, the Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro and the adjacent streets present a feast for photographers, shoppers, history buffs and fans of beautiful architecture alike.
