Ani Sangkhung Nunnery   (Lhasa)
0 /0  Users recommend

The Ani Sangkhung Nunnery is one of the oldest and most active nunneries in the Tibetan capital and perhaps one of the most active Buddhist nunneries in the world. The energy of the nuns has a nice counterpoint in th pristine and tranquil setting of the nunnery itself.

This is one of the quieter, less intrusive places in Lhasa and if you are looking for a bit of time to yourself, this might be a good slection.

Other than the quietly busy nuns and the peaceful atmosphere, the most popular attraction is the many armed statue Chengrazi, the goddess of compassion, that the nunnery holds very dear.

Admission:30 RMB  Hours:08:00-17:00  How to get there:The nunnery is located on 29 Linkuo Nanlu Barkhor, the street parallel and north of Chingdol Dong Lu in Lhasa, very close to the Potala Palace
