Python Mountain National Forest Park's peaks curve and coil snakelike through the dense forests below. Crowning the peaks are Beijing's largest Buddha as well as Beijing's highest pagoda. These can be reached by ascending Beijing's longest set of stairs, a grueling 3,666 step climb which sees visitors to a long painted corridor plus viewpoint at the top. From there, the brown smudge that is Beijing can be seen in the distance, 40 kilometers away as the Cherry Auto drives. This Beijing park is beautiful place to visit in the fall, as the forest's 176 species of trees and plants put on their yearly display of autumn color. A popular place, the park was once frequented by Deng Xiaoping, who planted trees here, as well as numerous celebrities whose signatures can be seen by the 100 Green Cultural Stele Carvings in the park's Green Cultural Memorial Pavilion. It's a great spot to get a little fresh air, exercise, and possibly even a little parasailing.
