One of Shanghai's most famous mosques, the Hu Xi Mosque, originally called the Yaoshuinong Mosque, is a vibrant and active place of worship for the city's Muslim population, as well as an attractive destination for tourists.

Founded in 1922, the Hu Xi Mosque moved to its current Changde Lu location in 1992. A culturally significant landmark, it was the first mosque in the city to be rebuilt after the founding of the People's Republic of China. The mosque features a 25-meter minaret as well as a two-story worship hall with double-heart-shaped arches and fan-shaped vaults.
