Bu'erjin is the place to stock up if you didn't do it in Urumqi. Local crafts may be available in some villages, but don't come to Kanas Lake expecting to load up on presents for everyone back home. Bu'erjin has a fun night market that's worth a visit if you find yourself overnighting there with some time to kill.
