Located near Green Lake Park, not far from Kunming's central commercial area, Harbour Plaza Kunming (Kunming Junle Jiudian) doesn't quite live up to the standards of its Hong Kong parent but it comes close. The staff speaks a reasonable amount of English and there are two floors especially designed to suit the tastes of Japanese tourists.
The hotel's four restaurants feature a top-notch selection of Yunnan, Cantonese, Japanese and European continental cuisine. Be sure to have a meal at the rotating Panorama Lounge and enjoy a bird's eye view of the city. Cafe Palmetto is one of the best Western restaurants in town.
