Beijing Olympic Souvenirs Cruel to Animals?

I found this picture up at the Beijing Olympics Fan blog and was shocked out of my wits!!! Who would ever buy this??? In 4 hours the fish would be dead, how do you explain that to your 6 year old daughter? I saw some guys selling these on the subway recently, they were claiming that the water was treated with food and chemicals that would allow the fish to live for months. BULLCRAP! The RSPCA was quoted as saying that  “This product shows a shocking lack of respect for a living thing and should be withdrawn from sale."

You know, if PETA existed in China, they'd probably institute a blockade of the factory where they make these, if the Earth Liberation Front found it, the factory would probably would be firebombed!! Not that I approve of that kind of behavior, BUT SERIOUSLY!!! WHO THE HELL WOULD BUY THIS!!!???? I'm especially curious to know where Chinese people stand on this. Do you find this incredibly cruel and insensitive? Are you disgusted? Or is it like Kurt Cobain said: "It's okay to eat fish, 'cuz they don't have any feelings..."

That is messed up!! Who really thought about this?? I don't like goldfish anyway, but still. I think they would look better in sushi.

I don't know, I think having an expired fish floating upside down in your key chain would be dead-wicked if you were driving your car on the ring roads listening to Ozzy Ozbourne... yeah!

c'mon, goldfish feel no pain. whoever is getting all animal-defensive about this should really examine some larger issues. go to any town or state fair in the US and you can play ring-toss for a dollar and win a goldfish in a plastic bag that, yes, will die most likely before you even get back home. peta shmeeta, quit whining you hippy. Ozzy Rules . . .

While they're at it, they may as well shrink-wrap some Canadians and put them on key chains too, we're kind of a waste of space... though Chinese might prefer shrink wrapped French people... what do Chinese prefer?
